Jack’s Top 7 – Superhero Movies

7. X-Men: First Class (2011)

A fun prequel to the X-Men series with some great characters, a good story and a really interesting chapter in the relationship between Professor X and Magneto. A great team movie and a really awesome theme tune for Magneto that’ll play in your head for days.

6. The Incredibles (2004)

An awesome family friendly superhero movie about a family of superheroes. Everyday people just trying to get along in a dysfunctional family but then they have to save the world. Funny and enjoyable, a great character study of a modern family in an unusual situation.

5. Logan (2017)

One of the most emotional superhero movies to date. Wouldn’t have worked without Jackman’s 17 year tenure as the character but a perfect send off to a great, in conflicted, superhero. Some performances for the ages and a real emotional gut punch of a story. Awesome.

4. Captain America: Civil War (2016)

Another film that wouldn’t have been as effective had it not had years to establish the relationships, but seeing the friendship between Cap and Iron Man break down is both epic and heartbreaking. Some amazing action scenes and a real thought piece of a story.

3. Spider-Man 2 (2004)

Doctor Octopus is a great supervillain and seeing him fight Spider-Man still produces thrills and excitement to this day. Also adding a personal journey of Peter Parker not knowing whether he should be Spider-Man anymore. Great action and great story. Easily the best Spidey movie.

2. The Dark Knight (2008)

Wow. What a movie! Yes it could work as a crime movie without superheroes but it still has a great story and an all time villain in Heath Ledger’s Joker. Some awesome set pieces and a nonstop story with so much depth and thought that you barely notice the extended runtime. What does it mean to be a hero? Batman knows!

1. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

Espionage spy movie with superheroes. Captain America has to unravel a secret conspiracy whilst facing one of the best Marvel film villains yet, the Winter Solider. Twists and turns make this almost as interesting to watch as it is enjoyable. Plus Cap vs the Soldier’s hand to hand fight scene on the highway is possibly one of the greatest, most well choreographed, exciting fight scenes ever filmed!

Honourable Mentions:

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

Iron Man (2008)

The Avengers (2012)

Batman Begins (2005)

Deadpool (2016)
